| Notebook Magazine ~ December Issue '07 Romance feature article about Frances. Laura Venuto the sub-editor of NOTEBOOK MAGAZINE contacted me recently after reading on my website: "... married the man I could have married 30 years ago...." Before long, a team of professionals arrived at our house to prepare and photograph us - we both felt really special. The photo was taken at our local HIllarys Beach - just down the road. BIOGRAPHY: Frances holds a BA in Writing with a supporting major in Media Studies from ECU which shares it's campus with WAAPA (a present to herself for her 50th in 2001), completed courses in film & video production and direction at FTI in the 80's & has a diverse background in poetry, children's literature, film and theatre. She has achieved small successes in various genres including film, poetry & writing for children. A full member of both the ASA ~ Australian Society of Authors and the Australian Writers Guild who include Author, Author, Inside Film, and Storyline as part of their memberships. Frances helps Luci Temple moderate the AWG On-line Screenwriting Workshop. Frances is proud to be a member of the Australian Film Institute ~ her dream is to one day win an AFI award. Frances and 'Love You Mum' have recently been listed on- line on the of the Australian Film Commission Searchable Film Data Base. Frances is listed in the SCREENWEST PRODUCTION DIRECTORY as a script writer, producer and director. Frances is also listed in the Film & TV Institute CREW DATABASE. Published an anthology to thank the participating poets Pages Cafe '05 in January 2006 and was recently honoured with an Appointment a member of the ArtsWA Peer Assessment Panel in 2006. Frances enjoys writing anything from romance to murder mysteries to short stories and is busy re-writing her first novel. She is currently focussed on scriptwriting Purchased the option on three books by well-known Melbourne writer Krista Bell for adaption to screen as 'No Strings' (registered with AWG) Appointed the moderator of an AWG On-Line Scriptwriting Group 2006 Short film script 'LOVE YOU MUM' was chosen from 47 others sent to Adelaide Centre for the Arts for production by 2nd year students. Luckily Producer: Matt Pearson and Director: David Ockenden chose the script. The film was first nominated 7 times in the Adelaide Film Festival Short Screen 2007 Awards and continues to win awards both here and overseas. (Further details on the Love You Mum pages) Frances participated in the PAC Screen Workshops earlier in the year, adapting 6 scripts to their specific requirements. The workshops provide opportunities for Actors, Writers and Directors to advance their skills. Dave LeMay filmed a short script written by Frances 'Remote' and it's can be viewed here, on My Space. Frances was asked to provide two short Film Noir scripts for Dave LeMay and Liz Sideris to use in the workshops: 'Bridgework' and 'Dead of Night'. Short film scripts were provided to Curtin University students to consider for this year's project and two were shortlisted: "Surf for Love" and 'Overtime'. Neither script was selected to film. However, one director has asked to film "Die Bruke" as an independant project at the end of 2007. More about SCRIPTS here.
