PERTH Solidarity Rally - Wednesday 28th November 2007

The WA Branch of the Australian Writers’ Guild is holding a rally to mark the International Day of Solidarity, on Wednesday 28 November, in support of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike.
Add your voice to the struggle for screenwriters to receive a fair share of the revenues generated from the use of their work on DVDs the internet and mobile phones. The fight now taking place in the U.S. is a fight for screenwriters across the globe!
Gatherings will take place around Australia and also in Ireland, New Zealand , United Kingdom , Mexico and France .
The issues facing the WGA directly affect us all. A show of support for our American colleagues is vital in their attempts to achieve a fair deal for all. This will set the precedent for new media revenue shares for writers, actors and directors in the U.S., Australia and the rest of the world.
Their fight is our fight and it’s your fight too. Come and show your support!
When: 5.15pm to 6.00pm Wednesday, 28 November 2007
Where: Entry Forecourt, Perth Railway Station, Wellington St, opposite Forrest Place .
RSVP: Please email wa@awg.com.au with “Solidarity” in the subject header
T-shirts, posters and flyers will be available. Former AWG President Geoffrey Atherden will be attending the rally.
