LUNCHLINES ~ EDITH COWAN UNIVERSITY

Guest: Jenny de Garis

Date: Friday 19th September

Time: 12.30 - 1.30

Venue: ML17.220

It’s a decade since Jenny de Garis was a sessional lecturer in Creative

Writing, Language and Literature at ECU and she now enjoys leading

residential writing workshops in national parks and creative interactions with artworks. Her M.A,”Two Books of Poetry and a Dream about Listening” - ECU’s first in Creative Writing - included an exploration of the processes of writing in response to paintings by Arthur Boyd. The interest in ‘poetry as translation’ fed into her recently self - published book, Dance of Light - poems and photographs in response to the bush and site-specific sculptures in a reserve of Perth’s Beeliar Wetlands.

Jenny’s poems have found space in newspapers and journals of many

kinds and in a range of places. At Lunchlines she will read and talk

about the writing of a selection of them.
