RECEIVED FROM TACTILE BOOKS (publishers of INDIGO JOURNAL) TODAY:
Hi Everyone
In Volume 1 of indigo journal, we uncovered the literary talent of Maree Dawes. Her short story I am so sweet and truthful and once I was betrayed was subsequently selected and published in Australia ’s Best Stories 2007 by Robert Drewe.
Maree has now had a collection of poetry published by Tactile Books. Her book Women of the Minotaur – les poèmes des femmes de Picasso was inspired by Picasso’s collection of paintings The Vollard Suite. Maree gives voice to the wives, lovers and models in Picasso’s life. The poems are both reflective of issues in contemporary relationships as well as darkly humorous. Some are risqué and will provoke the reader’s emotions of power, sexuality and desire. Illustrations by respected West Australian artist Bruce Gilbert provide a rich visual display enhancing the underlying sexual tension of the poems.
I am thrilled to publish a West Australian writer who was discovered within the pages of indigo journal and would like to invite you to the Perth launch of Maree’s book to celebrate her success.
Please join me and Maree in this celebration at New Edition Bookshop on 27th November from 6pm. Wine and nibbles will be served; the book will be available for purchase and signing. I have attached a copy of the invitation with the rsvp details.
I look forward to see you there.
Warm regards
Jaine Konarik
