| POETRY RECENT PUBLICATIONS: LINES IN THE SAND: My poem 'desertification' appeared in the Fellowship Of Australian Writers WA Anthology of short stories & poems 'Lines in the Sand' published in Nov 2008. The 'Lines in the Sand' anthology was showcased in August at Poets Corner with many contributors reading their work. Earlier in 2009, I was also asked to read the poem by John Kinsella at the launch of his book 'Shades of the Sublime and Beautiful' at the UWA Bookshop. This poem also inspired Marlia Douglas to pen her own version also entitled 'desertification' which was published in INDIGO JOURNAL VOL3 INDIGO JOURNAL Vol3: My poem 'My Life As A Sari' was chosen to be included in the latest volume of the very prestigious INDIGO JOURNAL VOL3 published in Perth, Western Australia by Tactile Books and edited by Donna Ward. Fremantle Press will feature an interview with Frances in their Poetry Resources section of their website where INDIGO JOURNAL VOL3 is available to purchase on-line. This poem is currently being adapted for the screen. SUN & SLEET Poetry Anthology Two of my poems 'Dieback' & 'Live Here On Sky' appear in this publication 'Sun & Sleet' an anthology from the Poets Union 2006. POETS CORNER was held on the 3rd Saturday of each month at Pages Cafe in the State Library, Alexander Building in the Cultural Centre of Perth, Western Australia, for three years. The last event was held in October 2008. PHOTOS & INFORMATION appear on the dedicated website. WA SPRING POETRY FESTIVALS: Since it began, Frances has organised events to compliment the annual WA Spring Poetry Festivals or participated as a performer and audience: WASPF 2005; To personally thank & showcase the 55 poets who participated in the 9 events (without fees) Frances organised and hosted during the WASPF 2005, Frances edited, hand made & published a small, limited edition chapbook: Pages Cafe '05 WASPF 2006: A Special Poets Corner, Forrest Place reading Poetry Trees Aloud, reading at the official launch of Issue 2 of 'The Word Is Out' , and a paid reader at Spearwood Library with Melbourne's Michael Farrell & local poet Lily Chan. WASPF 2007: Poets Corner hosted by Glen Phillips for National Poetry Week. WASPF 2008, Poets Corner featured Mike Ladd from ABC Radio & Open Mic. Frances was the visiting poet at Ocean Reef High School for 3 weeks. POETRY RESOURCES: WA Poets Inc are responsible for the Spring Poetry festival each year and also play a strong role in keeping poets informed of happenings in Perth & WA. Frances recommends POETICA ~ a program of poetry presented by Mike Ladd with the ABC, our National Radio Network. A recent review of the Glen Phillips program "Journey Down A River" appears on her website blog. Frances has often participated and highly recommends the on-line poetry workshops run by Ron Pretty of the Poetry Australia Foundation. You need to be a member, but that's a good thing and the quality of the critiques given by fellow poets, is invaluable.
