| Frances Macaulay Forde ~ a writer for page & screen... |
| POETRY In 2005, Frances was an organiser of the Spring Poetry Festival quite apart from organising her own seperate nine events during National Poetry Week 2005, held in the state library: Philosopher's Cafe & Poet's Corner Although Frances continued to organise and host Poet's Corner, our talented and committed guest hosts have included Glen Phillips, Lily Chan, Coral Carter and Deanne Leber all the while encouraged and supported for each event by Frances. POETS CORNER is held on the 3rd Saturday of each month 2006 at Pages Cafe in the State Library, Alexander Building in the Cultural Centre of Perth, Western Australia. We most thankfully acknowledge the on-going support and encouragement provided by our hosts Pages Cafe and The State Library of WA. Each month between 6 and 10 poets share their work, often for the first time, in public. If you'd like to participate, please contact Frances directly. In fact, to personally thank & showcase the 55 poets who participated in events (without fees) last Spring Poetry Festival in 2005, Frances edited, hand made and published a small, limited edition Pages Cafe '05 ~ Poet's Corner Anthology. This year, again Frances has taken part in the WA Spring Poetry Festival 2006 from the other side as a performer and audience: reading in Forrest Place in Poetry Trees Aloud, at the official launch of Issue 2 of 'The Word Is Out' (which includes two of her poems) also as a paid reader at Spearwood Library with Michael Farrell from Melbourne and local poet Lily Chan. WA Poets Inc are responsible for the Spring Poetry festival each year and also plays a strong role in keeping poets informed of happenings in Perth & WA. Frances recommends POETICA ~ a program of poetry presented by Mike Ladd with the ABC, our National Radio Network. A recent review of the Glen Phillips program "Journey Down A River" appears on her website blog. Frances has often participated and highly recommends the on-line poetry workshops run by Ron Pretty of the Poetry Australia Foundation. You need to be a member, but that's a good thing and the quality of the critiques given by fellow poets, is invaluable.
