"Toy Soldier"

(Working Title)

aka 'Competing' & 'Kathy's Clown'

1st Draft Drama Feature based on an unpublished novel (a murder mystery set in the South West & Perth, Western Australia) by Frances Macaulay Forde.

SYNOPSIS:

Peter Watts-Brown is a Colonel in the Army Reserve. He enjoys playing games - with the army, with money, with women. His `day' job with the Department of Agriculture is a step up the political ladder. He'd been through seventeen departments so far & the Ministry is the next stop. His favorite opponent at work and at `play' is Colin Williams. Colin's in line for promotion that Peter feels he deserves. He also wants Colin's wife Kath.

War games.

Both have a team entered in the Blackwood Marathon held in the South West. Each needs the validation of crossing the finishing line before the other. Both will do anything to win.
When one of the girls who works at the Research Center is murdered, the 'games' turn serious. Both have 'known' her, both are prime suspects - now the real battle begins.

BACKGROUND:

In 1996 Frances' brother lent her a computer and she wrote the first draft of her novel 'Toy Solider' within 3 months.

Since then, it's been re-written, had title changes to 'COMPETING' or 'KATHY'S CLOWN' and back again to 'TOY SOLDIER'.

During her university studies,  Frances also adapted her novel to screen.

The treatment and scene breakdown are available to interested producers or directors.

The script is in re-write as a feature but also as a TV Series project.
