| WELCOME! I'm a screenwriter, novelist and poet heavily involved in the Perth writing community. As a film-maker in the early 80's, my divorce meant putting aside my screen dreams and switching to writing short stories, novels and books for children. Theatre and community involvement consumed me for twenty years but there was always poetry in the background... Then came university at 50! My first book of poems was published in Ireland in 2003, I started Poets Corner @ Pages Cafe in 2005. We still meet each month as a showcase for poets with invited guests and an Open Mic. Now my circumstances have changed, I'm in love and married to the man I could have married thirty years ago, happily writing full time ~ mostly screenplays, poetry and short stories though after a meeting with a publisher, I'm attempting a picture book at the moment... A short film was made in Dec 2006 of my script 'Love You Mum' , directed by David Ockenden and Produced by Matt Pearson, has been nominated or awarded in Australia and USA. I'm currently asking producers to read my feature adaptation of three teen novels by Krista Bell called 'No Strings'. I'm very lucky and finally living my dream! (More on my biography page.) 'LOVE YOU MUM' ~ short film (18 mins) DVD The film of my short script 'Love You Mum' made in Adelaide by Producer Matt Pearson & Director David Ockenden, continues to surprise and delight us with nominations or 'selected to screen' at Film festivals here, in Canada and even Hollywood! In fact David & Matt were recently in the US collecting awards & attending festival screenings of the film. Now David's back & in Perth for a visit to discuss our next project. Comments received on the script 'No Strings': 'Head and shoulders above anything else out there.' ' Take it straight to Disney because there's no-one in Australia big enough to do it justice.' But I'm seeking an Oz Producer. ____________________________________________________ POET'S CORNER: 3rd Saturday of each month @ Pages Cafe on the ground floor of the WA State Library in the Perth Cultural Centre. Frances is the founder and host of Poets Corner @ Pages Cafe although as often as possible, she invited well-known poets to guest host for her. So far this year (click month to open pages directly), in January, we launched Tracy Ryan's latest book 'Scar revision' Vivienne Glance was the guest host in February with her Slamming poets , March was devoted to Afief Ismail Abdelrazig a well-known Sudanese poet.
