| Frances Macaulay Forde ~ a writer for page & screen... |
| BOOKS POETRY: Frances published her first collection of poems 'Hidden Capacity ~ a poet's journey' while living and being inspired by workshops and writers in Ireland during 2003. It incorporates poems from three chapbooks: 'The Return of Rainbows' 'Rail Tales' 'Exploring Possibilities' all of which are available seperately. As a thank you to the 55 poets who participated in her poetic events held in the State Library, Pages Cafe during the Spring Poetry Festival 2005, Frances published a chapbook showcasing those poets as a gift. Poet's Corner ~ 2005 ~ Pages Cafe. Poet's Corner still happens on the 3rd Saturday of each month but is now organised by Lily Chan. Contact Lily here. However, Lily has asked Frances to step in for this month, so Frances will be hosting Poet's Corner on the 16th September 2006, 2pm. Frances is also putting together her next book which contain words written while 'Sketching in Ireland'. CHILDREN'S: Her first children's story 'The Swimming Pool People' won the FAWWA Furphy Award in 1994 for 'Best Children's Book Manuscript' and was later adapted to the stage and performed during Little Feet Festival in Joondalup, by Northern Youth Theatre. Frances is currently adapting the book to film and looking for a publsher/producer. 'Santa's Swim' was written and illustrated by Frances, then offered for sale last year on a POD basis and is also currently finding a new life as an animated script. 'Mr Panda's Tea Party' was written as a series bible when they were popular but is still an excellent project for children's television. Whilst the Artistic Director of Norther Youth Theatre, Frances helped her members put together a magazine about their activities. 'NYT Cont...' FICTION: Although she enjoys writing short stories, they always seem to end up as scripts. Frances is currently working on the 3rd draft of her novel 'Toy Soldier' and spine- chilling murder mystery set around Perth suburbs and the Blackwood Valley in the magnificent South West of Western Australia. And yes, you guessed it - it's being adapted to the big screen too. |
