Diary of an AWARD-WINNING short film:

"Love You Mum"
Directed by
David Ockenden
Produced by
Matt Pearson
Written by
Frances Macaulay Forde

Love You Mum
deals with euthanasia, a highly debated issue, from a unique
perspective and inevitabley raises many more questions as the plot develops.
This is a piece that bravely recognizes the essential humanity of both sides.

"Love You Mum" was written in the early nineties as a short story
then adapted to a short film script in 2000.

June 2006: Luci Temple - a Moderator of the AWG Bulletin Board posted a notice:
CALL FOR SHORT FILM SCRIPTS:
"The Screen Department of  Adelaide Centre for the Arts is seeking short dramatic
scripts for production in September.  These short contemporary dramas or comedies
will be produced by Screen Students completing their 2nd year diploma."

I sent  three scripts
: "Love You Mum"' , "Overtime" and "Die Bruike"

Sat 22nd July 2006: At 10.02am Colin Reck - Lecturer in Screen Adelaide Centre for
the Arts confirmed by email, the phone call minutes before, to say my script
"Love You Mum" was on of three shortlisted out of 47 received.

But before he would recommend it, he asked  for some very minor
changes which I happily sent straight back the same day - by 13.30pm
- an excellent turn-around and thank goodness for the convenience of email!

When David Ockerman (The Director) actually chose the script to do, he also
wanted the horse scene added and recommended some small edits which
(again) I effected immediately.

3rd August 2006: A contract was signed for the 'non-exclusive rights to the short
script entitled "Love You Mum'.  The writer is only assigning the right to the producer
to produce a digital film for the purposes of student development.'

My name appears  on screen in the film both at the beginning  and the end credits
(whoooo-hoooo).  The Producer Matt and Director David have done an
amazing job of entering the film in many festivals, hence the success rate.

14th December 2006:
'Love You, Mum' premiered in Adelaide and was very well received.
I'm told there were tears and talk of festivals to enter...   Well done to everyone the
whole cast and crew including Producer Matt Pearson who tried valiantly to get
a copy of the DVD to me in Perth as it premiered in Adelaide.

The Adelaide Centre for the Arts have had great value for their money.  This is the very first
film produced by their students to be an award-winner and I'm very sure, it won't be their last.

The film has gone on to be nominated and win awards
both in Australia and Overseas:

Entered firstly on a level pegging with other short films and scoring 7 nominations in the
2007 South Australian Film Festival.

Monday, 5th February 2007:    7 (seven) nominations
